Three Main Types Of Cargo Loading Services

Posted on: 23 November 2016

If you need to use a shipping container transport service to transport some cargo for your business, you are going to need to decide which type of cargo loading service works best for the cargo that you need to transport. Here is a quick overview of the three primary types of cargo loading options that shipping container transport services use.

#1 Drop & Pull Service

The drop-and-pull service is one of the most expensive cargo loading services offered by shipping container delivery service. In this situation, the container is dropped off at your place of business. This requires you to have a parking lot or loading dock that is large enough for a shipping container to be dropped off and kept on your property for a couple of days.

The container is usually dropped off at your business and left there for a few days. During this time period, you are supposed to pack and load the container with all of your cargo yourself. This requires you to know how to effectively and safely pack a cargo container.

Once your have packed up the container, the shipping company will come back and pick it up from your business and ship the container to its destination for you.

#2 Warehouse Loading

With the warehouse loading option, you need to bring all of your cargo to the shipping company's local warehouse. You will be responsible for packing up all of your belongings and paying for transportation to get the items to the site. If the warehouse is close to you, this can be an affordable option. If the warehouse is far from where you live, this can be an expensive option.

When you get your belongings to the shipping company's warehouse, your responsibilities are done. The shipping company will then take your items, pack and load them into the container, and transport it to its final destination.

#3 Live Load

Your last option is a live load. A live load is similar to a drop-and-pull service; however, in this instance, the shipping container is dropped off at your business for a short period of time. For example, you might be given five hours to prepare, load, and pack up the shipping container. You will need to have everything ready before the container is dropped off and you will need to move fast to pack up the shipping container before they come back to pick it up.

When they come back to pick up your container, they will then seal up the container and ship the container right away. For more information on your options, contact a company like Slana Inc.
